David Murillo, Ph.D.

Dr. Murillo is currently a director of risk management at American Express where he has been working for the past 10 years.  He has had a variety of roles in his career across charge card, lending card, and installment lending risk management and underwriting.  His job entails statistical and data-driven analytics to find business solutions to meet the lending needs of consumers.  He is an active member and advocate of the Latino society within American Express and continues to mentor colleagues and students both inside and outside of the company.

He earned his BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics for the Life and Social Sciences at the School for Human Evolution and Social Change at Arizona State University.  His doctoral thesis was on modeling urban growth and the spread of diseases.
